David Eyley found his hamster Rhino motionless and cold inside its cage and sorrowfully buried it in the garden. To his surprise and confusion, he received a phone call from his neighbor who had spotted Rhino running around in her garden after digging himself out of his two-foot-deep grave.
After catching the hamster, David renamed it “Jesus” in honor of its amazing resurrection.
How did this hamster miracle happen? It is possible that Jesus the hamster was actually hibernating. Hamsters can go into hibernation if their body temperature drops, and owners are encouraged to quickly warm the animals back up in order to prevent their death; if there is doubt about the hamster’s liveliness, take it to a vet.
