Beastie Boys Fans Hope to Rename Park After MCA

A group of Beastie Boys fans want to name a Brooklyn Heights park after the rap group’s founder who passed away earlier this month at the age of 47 from throat cancer.

The group of supporters for the renaming has reached 1,200 and they want to rename the tiny “Squibb Park” to “Adam Yauch Park”. It is located near the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. This park will one day be attached to Brooklyn Bridge Park via a footbridge.

The park is curently named after 19th century pharmaceutical giant Edward Robinson Squibb, who opened his first lab where the park now sits.

The plan has yet to gain any backing by city officials.
